The Rapture is an American dance-punk band formed in 1998 in San Francisco and based in New York City. Known for fusing post-punk guitars with disco rhythms, the group helped define the early 2000s New York dance-punk scene alongside labelmates LCD Soundsystem on DFA Records. Their 2002 single "House of Jealous Lovers," produced by DFA founders James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy, became a landmark of the post-punk revival. They released acclaimed albums including Echoes (2003), Pieces of the People We Love (2006), and In the Grace of Your Love (2011).
