Shane Michael Boose, known professionally as sombr (stylized in lowercase), is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer from New York City. Born in 2005 and raised on the Lower East Side, he studied vocal music at LaGuardia High School and began producing in Logic Pro and GarageBand in middle school. After posting his song "Caroline" on TikTok in 2022, he signed with Warner Records in 2023. His breakout single "back to friends" (December 2024) went viral on TikTok in 2025, peaking at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by "undressed". Both tracks appeared on his 2025 debut studio album "I Barely Know Her". He received nominations for Best New Artist at the 68th Grammy Awards and won Best Alternative Video at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
