Blood Orange is the musical project of English singer, songwriter, producer and composer Devonté Hynes, born in Ilford, East London and based in New York City. Previously performing as Lightspeed Champion, Hynes launched Blood Orange in 2011 with the album Coastal Grooves, blending R&B, funk, synth-pop and indie pop with introspective lyrics exploring identity, vulnerability and modern connectedness. His critically acclaimed catalog includes Cupid Deluxe, Freetown Sound, Negro Swan and Essex Honey. A prolific collaborator, Hynes has written and produced for Solange, FKA Twigs, Carly Rae Jepsen, Florence and the Machine, Turnstile, A$AP Rocky and many others.
