Legendary punk rock pioneer born James Newell Osterberg Jr. in Muskegon, Michigan. As frontman of the Stooges, he helped invent proto-punk with raw, aggressive performances and primal energy. Known as the Godfather of Punk, his collaborations with David Bowie produced iconic solo albums The Idiot and Lust for Life. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.
