The Purge is a goth/industrial and dark synth-pop project from Norfolk, Virginia, led by Thomas Duerig. Originally an experimental bedroom project that began with the 2013 LP Waves, it evolved into Duerig's primary emotional outlet and became a live solo act in 2017 with Faith & Trust. Subsequent releases The Bad Ideas We Build Worlds (2018), Rain (2019), and Honesty (2019) gained traction in the goth/industrial DJ scene, and The Purge won the VEER award for Best Electronic Band/Artist in 2020.
