Special Request is the jungle, hardcore and rave alias of Leeds producer Paul Woolford. Launched on white label 12"s in 2012, the project channels the breakbeat techno, drum and bass and pirate radio sounds Woolford grew up with in the UK during the mid-1990s. Releases include the albums Soul Music (2013), Modern Warfare (2015), Belief System (2017) and the four-album run of Vortex, Bedroom Tapes, Offworld and Redact in 2019, along with a 2021 DJ-Kicks mix. Records have appeared on Houndstooth and XL Recordings, earning a reputation for ferocious, high-energy sets.
