Kings of Leon
Nashville, US
alternative rock · southern rock · garage rock · indie rock
American rock band formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 1999 by brothers Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill with their cousin Matthew Followill. Named after their grandfather Leon, the family grew up traveling the southern United States. Their sound evolved from raw southern rock and garage rock on early albums like Youth and Young Manhood (2003) to a more polished alternative rock style, achieving massive commercial success with Only by the Night (2008) and its hit singles Sex on Fire and Use Somebody. With nine studio albums including Can We Please Have Fun (2024), Kings of Leon remain one of the most prominent rock acts of the 21st century.
