The War on Drugs is an American rock band from Philadelphia, formed in 2005 by Adam Granduciel and Kurt Vile. After Vile departed to focus on his solo career following their 2008 debut Wagonwheel Blues, Granduciel became the sole constant member, fronting a six-piece lineup known for expansive, guitar-driven heartland rock infused with psychedelia and 80s synth textures. Drawing from Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Tom Petty, the band broke through with 2014's Lost in the Dream and won the Grammy for Best Rock Album with 2017's A Deeper Understanding on Atlantic Records. Their most recent album is I Don't Live Here Anymore (2021).
