The String Cheese Incident (SCI) is an American jam band from Crested Butte, Colorado, formed in 1993. Originally a bluegrass group of ski-town musicians, they expanded into a genre-blending powerhouse fusing bluegrass, rock, funk, electronica, Latin, calypso, reggae, and progressive jazz. Core members include Bill Nershi (guitar), Michael Kang (mandolin/violin), Kyle Hollingsworth (keys), Keith Moseley (bass), Michael Travis (drums), and Jason Hann (percussion). Renowned for marathon improvisational live shows, they are pillars of the modern jam scene and founders of the SCI Fidelity Records label and Madison House Publicity. SCI helped pioneer the fan-first touring model and host the Horning´s Hideout and Electric Forest festivals among many others.
