Cuban-American DJ and producer born Eric Estornel in Flower Mound, Texas (1978), raised in Dallas and Miami. Known for his genre-spanning work across deep house, techno, electro, and IDM, he began DJing in 1993 and released music under aliases Maetrik and Mariel Ito before adopting the Maceo Plex moniker in 2010 after relocating to Valencia, Spain. His 2011 debut album Life Index on Crosstown Rebels earned critical acclaim. He founded the Ellum Audio label in 2011 and launched the acclaimed Mosaic by Maceo residency at Pacha Ibiza in 2016, which won Ibiza Party of the Year at the DJ Awards. Has mixed volumes of the DJ-Kicks and Fabric series. Based in Barcelona.
