Jade Cicada is the project of Skyler Alecson, an experimental bass music producer from Lenox, Massachusetts. His stage name was gifted to him by his late grandmother, who left him a jade cicada before passing. Trained at Berklee College of Music in electronic production and design, his sound weaves intricate glitch, downtempo, and bass-heavy soundscapes influenced by 90s hip-hop pioneers like MF DOOM, J Dilla, and Madlib. His career took off in 2015 after being recognized by Tipper and invited to open at Tipper & Friends Festival in Florida. Notable releases include Pressure Gamut, Lunar Fade, and the Byte Evaders EP.
