Empire of the Sun is an Australian synth-pop duo formed in Sydney in 2007 by Luke Steele (of The Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (of Pnau). Known for their flamboyant costumes and elaborate stage performances, they blend synth-pop, new wave, and electronic dance music into a distinct audiovisual experience. Their debut album Walking on a Dream (2008) became a global success, winning seven ARIA Awards including Album of the Year. With over 5.5 million albums sold and 7.6 billion streams, they are one of Australia's most iconic electronic acts. Their fourth studio album Ask That God was released in 2024 after an eight-year hiatus.
