Scottish-American musician, artist, and filmmaker best known as the founding member, lead vocalist, and guitarist of Talking Heads. Born in Dumbarton, Scotland, Byrne co-founded the influential new wave band in 1975, releasing eight studio albums before their 1991 split. His eclectic solo career spans art rock, world music, and experimental pop, earning him an Academy Award, Grammy, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. His Broadway show American Utopia and 2025 album Who Is The Sky? on Matador Records continue his boundary-pushing creative output.
