Underworld
Cardiff, GB
techno · electronica · progressive house · big beat
Underworld are a British electronic music duo of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith, formed in 1987 in Cardiff, Wales. Evolving from their earlier new wave project Freur, they became pioneers of UK techno and progressive house, best known for the iconic track "Born Slippy .NUXX" featured in the Trainspotting soundtrack. Operating from their Romford, Essex studio, they blend driving electronic rhythms with Hyde's stream-of-consciousness vocals and Smith's intricate production. With a career spanning nearly four decades, they remain one of the most influential and enduring acts in electronic music.
