German DJ and producer Tino Piontek, known as Purple Disco Machine, is one of the leading figures in modern nu-disco and house music. Born in Dresden in 1980, he grew up in East Germany and discovered house music on the local nightlife scene in the mid-1990s. His 2013 track "My House" hit #1 on Beatport's deep house chart, and his debut album "Soulmatic" (2017) spawned hits like "Body Funk" and "Devil In Me." His 2020 collaboration with Sophie and the Giants, "Hypnotized," became a massive international hit, topping charts in Poland and going triple platinum in Italy. His follow-up albums "Exotica" (2022) and "Paradise" continued his streak of dance floor anthems. In 2023, he won a Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording for his remix of Lizzo's "About Damn Time." His stage name pays homage to Prince and Gloria Estefan's Miami Sound Machine.
