French rock trio from Grenoble, active 1996–2001. Formed by Olivier Depardon (guitar, vocals), Jean-Marc Junca (bass), and Xavier Bray (drums), Virago blended noisy guitars, samples, and dark poetic French lyrics. Released their debut EP (1997), Introvertu (1998), and Premier Jour (2000) on the Vicious Circle label. Their track "Ouvre-moi" appeared on the soundtrack to Virginie Despentes' film Baise-moi. The band disbanded in late 2001.
