The Florentines were a British studio project based around Scottish sisters Deirdre and Louise Rutkowski, previously of Glasgow pop group Sunset Gun. The duo recorded one 12" EP, Man of Mine, for the cult indie label él Records in 1987, produced and arranged by Derek Wadsworth. The four-track release featured the songs "Man of Mine", "Lose That Long Face", "Whisper Not" and a cover of Cole Porter's "Get Out of Town". Their material later appeared on several él Records compilations including London Pavilion and Girl Talk. Louise Rutkowski went on to sing with This Mortal Coil.
