Smino (born Christopher Smith Jr., October 2, 1991) is an American rapper and singer from St. Louis, Missouri. Raised in a musical family — his grandfather played bass for Muddy Waters — he began drumming in church before turning to rap. He is the founder of the Zero Fatigue collective alongside producer Monte Booker, Bari, Jay2, and Ravyn Lenae. Smino broke through with his 2017 debut album blkswn (released on 3/14, a nod to his 314 area code), followed by NOIR (2018) and Luv 4 Rent (2022), earning acclaim for his elastic flow, melodic hooks, and genre-blurring fusion of hip hop, R&B, jazz, and soul.
