Hopeton Overton Brown (born 18 April 1960), known as Scientist, is a Jamaican recording engineer and dub music producer who rose to fame in the 1980s. A protégé of King Tubby, he developed a distinctive mixing style described as playful and psychedelic, loaded with echo explosions and blasts of feedback. He worked extensively at Channel One and King Tubby's studio with producers like Henry "Junjo" Lawes and artists including Barrington Levy, Michael Prophet, and the Wailing Souls.
