Chicago house music legend active since 1983, Mike Dunn emerged from the Englewood neighborhood pioneering live production techniques with drum machines and reel-to-reel tape recorders at basement parties. His 1987 debut "Dance You Mutha" and acid track "Magic Feet" cemented his status as a progenitor of acid house and hip house. Known under his MD X-Spress alias for the iconic "God Made Me Phunky," Dunn has released on Defected, Nervous, Tribal America, and his own labels Warehouse Records, Dance Mutha, and Blackball Muzik. A member of the Chosen Few DJs since 2012 and honored by the city of Chicago in 2026, he continues to perform at venues like Panorama Bar, Fabric, and festivals including Glastonbury and Electric Forest.
