Marvin Louis Burns (born May 13, 1962), known as Lil' Louis, is a Chicago house music pioneer, DJ, producer, and songwriter. Often called the founding father of house music, he began DJing at age 12 in 1974 and was among the first in Chicago to regularly play disco. His 1989 single "French Kiss" topped the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and reached No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart, selling over 6 million copies worldwide. His albums include "From the Mind of Lil Louis" (1989) and "Journey with the Lonely" (1992). Released on FFRR, Epic, and Diamond Records, his work helped define the Chicago house sound. In 2012 he released the documentary "The House That Chicago Built."
