Born Curtis Alan Jones in Chicago in 1968, Green Velvet is a pioneering DJ, singer, and producer who helped define the sound of Chicago house and acid techno. A chemical engineering graduate, he launched Cajual Records in 1992 and Relief Records in 1993, releasing seminal tracks like "Coffee Pot (It's Time for the Percolator)" under his Cajmere alias. His Green Velvet moniker debuted with 1995's "Flash," which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. Known for his neon-green mohawk and theatrical performances, he has released albums including Constant Chaos, Whatever, Walk in Love, and Unshakable, and formed the side project Get Real with Claude VonStroke.
