Gladde Paling is the stage name of Laurens van Dijk, a Dutch DJ and producer who pioneered the meme-techno (or meme & bass) sound. Starting in 2021 during COVID lockdowns, he creates short sixty-to-ninety second productions packed with familiar soundbites, memes, and clips set to hard beats with dry humour. His music spans drum and bass, hard dance, techno, and dubstep. After tracks went viral on TikTok in 2022, he released his debut album "dansmuziek" and has since performed at major festivals including Tomorrowland, Rampage, Lowlands, Paaspop, and Liquicity. He gained early support from NOISIA, who spun his tracks during their Goodbye Tour.
