Iranian-American Grammy-winning techno DJ and producer. Born Ali Shirazinia in Mashhad, Iran, he relocated to Washington, D.C. at age seven. Influenced by the city's punk scene, hip hop, jazz, dub and new wave, he co-founded Deep Dish with Sharam Tayebi in 1992, winning a Grammy for their remix of Dido's "Thank You." As a solo artist, Dubfire shifted to minimal and dark techno, founding the SCI+TEC label. Known for his dubfire:live HYBRID show blending audio and visual technology, he remains a leading figure in underground electronic music.
