Chicago-born DJ, producer, and remixer Darlene Jackson, known as DJ Lady D, has been a trailblazing force in house music since the mid-1990s. Inspired by Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy, she rose through Chicago's underground club circuit and was named Chicago's house music queen by Chicago Magazine. In 1997 she co-founded Superjane, an all-female DJ collective, and in 2004 launched her own label D'lectable Music. Her single A Deep-Felt Love was signed to Defected Records and hit number one on the Traxsource deep house charts. A sought-after public speaker on the ethnomusicology of Chicago house music and women in electronic music, she serves as a governor for the Recording Academy's Chicago chapter.
