Chicago house music pioneer who began DJing at age nine, spinning disco records at family reunions. Raised in the western suburbs, he worked at dance-music stores like Gramaphone and held regular slots at Smart Bar, Shelter, and Foxys. A key figure in house musics second wave from the mid-1990s alongside Cajmere, Felix Da Housecat, and Ron Trent. Released debut single Love Me Right in 1987 and later recorded as Sound Patrol, expanding to a live band as the Sound Patrol Orchestra in 1995. Founder of Blue Cucaracha and Classic labels. Known for sets rooted in house that seamlessly incorporate old-school disco, soul, and jazz. Has remixed tracks for artists including Tortoise, The Human League, Royksopp, and Modjo.
